Areas of Javea in Spain. Javea is divided into three parts: Javea Pueblo (Old Town); Javea Puerto (the busy harbor area); and Playa de Arenal (the largest beach area). Today, the old town and the port have grown quite a lot thanks to the property development that has taken place in the city, while Playa de Arenal is 3 km along the rocky beach of Javea Puerto. Javea main areas
The cozy old center of Javea is worth visiting a couple of hours a morning. You can wander around to admire the whitewashed buildings in Gothic style. Have a look at the gothic church of San Bartolome and visit the busy food market with its stalls full of fresh fish and fruit and vegetables from the region. Take a coffee break at Temptations or stop at the C / Major cafe under the stairs leading up to the very helpful tourist information in Plaza de la Iglesia (Church Square).
Today, most of the ports of the tourist destinations of Alicante province have become trendy marinas with designer shops, but not in Javea. It still works as a fishing port with boats moored in the immediate vicinity. With its beautiful promenade with outdoor terrace restaurants and cozy local bars, it’s a great experience to wander around and soak up the crowds. The view of the bay is spectacular. During the first week of September, this place is home to one of Spain’s more unusual fiestas, when the bulls are released on the paddock area where they are mocked by local youths jumping in the sea when the bull is hunting for them. The goal is to make the bull fall into the water.
Playa de Arenal is Javea’s beach area. There is a chilled area stretching more than 300m from the well located at Hotel Parador in the north, and as far as the restaurant area ends in the south. This area has many cafes, bars and restaurants located on row and row on the wide seafront. The beach itself is fabulous with superb fine golden sand. There is a volleyball net along the back of the beach which is popular later in the day and there are several play areas for the kids.

There are many different areas of Javea, all with their own feel and charm. If you are looking to live without a car then you need to be in either the Old Town, Port or Arenal areas, where most properties are either apartments or townhouses. You will be able to walk to shops, doctors, pharmacies, schools, bars and restaurants.

Montgo Valls area in Javea
Montgo Valls area in Javea is the valley of the Montgo and close to the old town with large villas and traditional fincas. Protector of bad weather, the Montgo Massif mountain flanks Javea’s north side giving our beautiful town a wonderful microclimate that the world health organisation talked about. The highest summit in the area, Montgo stands at just over 750m high and looks like an elephant from the Javea side (Denia being on the north side). Montgo is broken up into different residential areas such as: Castellans (closest to the old town), Rimontgo (adjoining Castellans), La Ermita (where a pretty little church and supermarket are), El Gafforral (a newer zone with more modern infrastructures) and Montgo-Toscamar. Unless you’re in one of the newer sections of Montgo; infrastructure can be lacking but you really do feel like you’re in the ‘old Spain’. Properties in these older streets run off septic tanks and yes, they do have mains water, electric, telephone and of course high speed internet connections! It’s not ‘old’ in its services, just in its ambience. All of the urbanised areas on the Montgo are south facing, offer plots with minimum size 1000m and elevated with fabulous valley and countryside views – making it a popular choice for many foreigners. There is also a residence committee.

Strolling through the streets of the charming old town of Jávea will transport you, back in time, to the Middle Ages. A walk along its defensive walls to meet its main historic buildings will not disappoint you. In the old town you will experience a beautiful place with a rich heritage. After the Arab rule in 1244, Jávea was handed to the Crown of Aragon, but it was not until the early fourteenth century when it began to repopulate the zone needed to strengthen the territory due to continued conflict. In 1397 it obtained the Villa title belonging to the Marquess of Denia.
One of the significant historical moments that marked the city of Jávea was the constant attacks by pirates and corsairs to coastal population in the sixteenth century. This fact caused people to vacate their homes on the coast and went 2 km inland, and in a raised position facilitating its defense, where they built walls to protect themselves that would last until 1877. Javea port area
Javea Port is well worth a visit. It boasts many shops, restaurants, (tapas) bars and the pretty La Grava peble beach alongside the promenade lined with lovely palmtrees in a relaxed atmosphere. Located at the north end of the promenade, Javea’s marina still functions as a fishing port with the fishing fleet arriving back in port at least once a day and yachts moored in the same vicinity. El Tosalet area in Javea
Urbanisation El Tosalet in Javea is currently one of the most mature and popular residential areas in the area and there is a wide variety of nationalities. Tosalet is the only urbanization in Javea that has security cameras and a surveillance service 24 hours a day. Wide streets with lighting throughout the residence and it also has a community of owners.
Urbanisation Tosalet consists of four different phases, Phase I of Tosalet is the lower part closest to the beach and where the Owners Administration is located. Phase II and IV in the middle part and Phase III located in the upper part. The El Tosalet de Javea urbanisation was built in 1966, at the initiative of Mrs. Julia Jiménez Muro.
Most of the houses built in the Tosalet are Mediterranean in style and are characterized by their wide nayas (which were formerly Riu Raus, which were used on the estates as grape drying rooms).
